Crystal is a civil litigation attorney with Becker & Runkle, primarily handling real estate and contract disputes. Prior to joining Becker & Runkle, Crystal worked as Deputy County Counsel for Placer County, representing the county in suits in state, appellate and federal court. She also worked as a general civil litigator with the AV-rated civil law firm of Reese, Smalley, Wiseman and Schweitzer, LLP.
Crystal graduated from University of California Davis School of Law, with certificates in pro bono legal studies and public interest. She was awarded the Legal Research and Writing Best of Class Oral Advocacy Award. She was the founder and president of the UC Davis Student Veteran's Association. During law school, Crystal externed for the Honorable Judge David De Alba of the Sacramento Superior Court, and at Swords to Plowshares, a veterans' policy and legal aid organization. She also worked as a certified clerk for the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office.
Prior to her legal training, Crystal worked in National Security as a terrorism analyst for the prosecution team for the Office of Military Commissions and at the Department for Homeland Security as a counter-terrorism writer and researcher. She served honorably as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in military intelligence during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. She received a graduate degree in Strategic Studies, with an emphasis on Counterterrorism from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, conducting field research on terrorist groups in the southern Philippines. She has created and taught a counter-terrorism training program for military, civilian and law enforcement.
